Dental Assessments

TMJ Disorders are commonly found in Motor Vehicle Accident clients who suffer from hyper-extension or hyper-flexion of the spine in the collision.  Our dental assessments are based on over 40 years of dental work experience and education.

Dental treatment of TMJ Disorders comprises the creation of a Repositioning Appliance or “splint”.  This allows supporting muscles and muscles of mastication to relax and help the healing of the TMJ.  Splints are generally worn for 6-12 months and adjustments are made regularly.  Most TMJ clients have associated musculoskeletal problems, so related treatment by a physiotherapist, massage therapist or chiropractor also helps return the client to a pain-free status.
